At JORY Children’s Foundation, our mission has always been about creating meaningful opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive. Sometimes, that means going beyond direct donations and finding creative ways to amplify the impact we can make together.
Recently, that spirit of collaboration led to an incredible partnership with Making Spirits Bright, creating an unforgettable experience for the students at Barth Elementary School in Romulus.
Following JORY’s recent donation of more than 500 books to Barth Elementary to encourage literacy and a love of reading, this new partnership helped take that effort even further. Through this special event, every student was given the opportunity to choose five books of their own to take home, along with a brand-new book bag to carry their selections.
For many children, building a personal library is something that can make a lifelong difference. Having books at home encourages independent reading, boosts literacy development, and helps spark imagination far beyond the classroom.
But beyond the books themselves, the true highlight of the day was the joy on the students’ faces.

While photos captured moments from the event, they couldn’t fully express the excitement, pride, and happiness these children showed as they picked out stories that spoke to them. Seeing that enthusiasm firsthand was a powerful reminder of why community support matters so much.
This event is a perfect example of what can happen when organizations come together with a shared goal: creating brighter futures for children.
JORY Children’s Foundation extends sincere gratitude to Making Spirits Bright and to everyone who helped make this collaboration possible. Your generosity continues to make a real difference in the lives of local students.
Together, we’re not just donating books—we’re helping build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
